‘Great Expectations’

Support Group for Expectant Mums

We aim to support pregnant ladies who are suffering from anxiety, depression or loneliness during pregnancy.  Pregnancy is portrayed as a time of ‘Great Expectations’ however, that is not the reality for all women. At least one in ten pregnant women experience bouts of anxiety and depression.

We provide an opportunity to share feelings and break free from social isolation in a caring and friendly environment.  You will be introduced to some useful coping strategies and relaxation techniques and you will also have access to other professionals such as midwives who can offer you their expertise, along with additional information and advice.

If you choose to, you can also ask for a home visiting volunteer to support you through the late stages of pregnancy. This volunteer can also continue to visit you once your baby is born.
